Admissions Essays

The admissions essay writing process has the potential to be a really fulfilling experience for students. The brainstorming process offers students the space (and encouragement) to explore their lives up until this point with a magnifying glass of sorts and really identify the parts of their lives—the core values, the challenges, the anecdotes, the relationships, the seemingly mundane moments—that have made them who they are, or that represent an important part of who they are. Done well, the personal statement is a really excellent vessel through which to convey a student’s core values as well as give context to/corroborate the rest of their application. I think of it as a golden thread that weaves the pieces of a student’s story together. As a bonus, the process arms students with (more) self-awareness that can help future decision-making toward living a values-driven life. I would be honored to guide your student through this process.

Students have full flexibility to work with me as little or as much as they (and their parents) would like—one essay, some essays, all essays.
